Brought to you by the Sacramento County Deputy Sheriff's Association
This years East Coast Defensive Player of the Year honors goes to Alain Cruz of the South Florida Lawmen. Alain, who formerly was a defensive standout for the Miami Metro Red team, has been a finalist for this award in years past and he was also a strong contender for this years Player of the Year award which shows you the talent this young man has.
Alain has a set of one of the softest and quickest hands you will find in the LEO game. He has a well above average arm with pin point accuracy. Over the course of a tournament, you will see Alain make difficult defensive plays look routine. Coach John Scollo describes Alain, who plays 5 man for them, as the defensive anchor to their team. Coach Scollo says the SoFlo Lawmen are a different team when Alain is not present and that is when they truly realize how good he is.
In addition to being a standout with the glove, Alain is one of the top hitters on the Lawmen and and you will hear nothing but positive encouragement from him the entire tournament no matter the situation.
It is our pleasure to give a long over due East Coast Defensive Player of the Year Award to Alain Cruz.
