CHP Choir Boys
Latest Tournament Report:
Tied for 9th at PSPOA.

In 2008:
This team is one of the best teams in NorCal and also one of the best kept secrets in the West. They fly under the radar but they have a huge amount of talent. Coach Steve Merchant loves his team and works as hard for them as any coach in the nation. The Boys are well rounded and very athletic which allows them to press you 1-10 in the order. The boys have been busy in the off season. Most notably they will have a strong flavor of Folsom J-Cats added to their already strong line up. Chris Stieferman who is an ex Cartel and ex Folsom/Sac J-Cat player will see some time at 3B and Cartel utility player Bobby Fernandes was also picked up. The Boys plan on playing in most of the major tournaments along with the Western States Games in Idaho and the defense of their GOLD medal in the Colorado Police Games. They are also hosting their First Annual Cinco de Mayo Tournament in Lincoln, which is part of the Boombah points chase tournaments. 2008 OUTLOOK: The west coast CHP circuit was shocked when this team did not win the annual Vegas CHP tournament which was won by a very good CHP Balls Deep but that should not stop the Boys from being a NorCal power as this team is very talented. Once this team can stop the one bad inning, they will have no weaknesses

In 2006:
The Choir Boys had a solid year but maybe not quite as impressive as their ’05 performance. Seem to have a lot of loyalty and positive team chemistry. Put a scare into NY Metro twice in the World Series. Longtime player Mike Richards has a career year and this was a huge bright spot for this team in 2006.

Admittedly had an off-weeked at the Bring Ur Real Skilz event. Look for them to bounce back at their host tourney.

Successful in hosting their first tournament. On the field they were B-flight runners up. The hosts did good in making it a fun tournament for all.

How We Beat You
We kill you with a stingy defense, a consistent offense and with kindness. There's not one cancer on this team. We have 16 players and we rotate starters. It's my belief that Player #16 is as good as Player #1. 99% of our team plays league together 10 months of the year and you never hear any bitching from our dugout at each other or anybody else.
How You Beat Us
If you catch us with an error filled game and our bats wake up late, it could be a long day for us.
Team Highlight
2003:
2nd Place at Antioch (Contra Costa CHP) Tournament
1st Place at Gold Run CHP Tournament
3rd Place at Colusa CHP Tournament
3rd Place (Tied with Contra Costa CHP) at CAHP Las Vegas Tournament
2004:
3rd Place at Concord PD Tournament
1st Place at Gold Run CHP Tournament
1st Place at Colusa CHP Tournament
2nd Place at CAHP Las Vegas Tournament
2005:
1st Place at Arena Softball Law Enforcement Tournament
1st Place at Antioch (Contra Costa CHP) Tournament
Team Lowlight
This is a no-brainer. 7 errors in the final inning of the championship game at the CAHP Las Vegas Tournament cost us the game. Don't get me wrong, CHP Thunder put together numerous key hits and are an outstanding team, but when you give up 13 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to lose a game, it's definitely a lowlight that you won't soon forget.
Goals
To continue playing this game until it isn't fun anymore. Our average team age is close to 40 years old and to still be competetive and having a great time? Who could ask for more?
