DEA Combo/Easton
|
Latest Tournament Report:
Tied for 9th at PSPOA.
In 2008:
The Combo will be in transition phase this year as they lost many long time players to other teams. The following moves have been reported to PoliceSoftball.com: Keith Benjamin and Andrew McCormick to Cal. Quake, Curt Ledesma to SoCal Alliance and Johnny Sunia, Big Andy Williams, Robbie Rosas, & Marc Grande to Aftershock. Some think the DEA will not be the power they typically are but veteran Coach Jimmy Gomez always finds a way to put a high quality team on the field. Such is the case with their signing of slick fielding middle infielder Dave Ayala who formerly played for the LAPD Lawmen. Dave is a very heady player who can help a team in many ways. Dave will combine with Jason Hart to form one of the best double play combos in the game. It is rumored that Dave has also brought with him Cody Trask who should see a lot of time at 3B. Cody is a former minor league baseball player and has transitioned very well to softball. 2008 OUTLOOK: This is an established team with tradition of winning. Over the last 3 years this team has not been lower than 5th in the rankings. With the personnel losses a top 5 ranking could be difficult but don’t be surprised if they pull it off because this team has a certain mystique that others just don’t have.
In 2006:
Came on strong at the end of the year with a nice win at the Desert Classic and solid performance in the World Series. Team has enough firepower to take down anyone on any given day. A couple of off season moves could easily return this team to the top.

Many new faces on the Combo. Continuing to gel as a team and loaded with potential. It took an extra inning effort for the Alliance to defeat them in the round robin. A solid win over Sac Police Softball in the playoffs showed the potential this team has. |

We knew it wouldn't take long. That old DEA magic is coming back. 4th place in Lincoln is a nice jump start to what should be a solid year for the new-look DEA. |

| Summary |
David Schiller established the DEA Combo Softball team in 1989 and in June of 2004 he turned over the reigns to Jimmy Gomez who acts as player/coach. As indicated by the team name, this is a team consisting of select Federal and State Law Enforcement agencies from California and Arizona. Currently the team is comprised of agents and officers from the DEA, Bureau of Prisons, Border Patrol, CHP, LAPD, Long Beach PD, Anaheim PD, Torrance PD, Chandler PD, and Mesa PD. Over the years, this team has competed at the local, national and international level. DEA Combo has also been very fortunate to have several sponsorships to help with the yearly costs. Anderson Bat Co. (Orange, California) , South Bay Sporting Goods (Carson, California), Jimmy Deez Bar and Grill (Yuma, Arizona), Roundtable Pizza (Yuma, Arizona) and Flash Sportswear (Colton, California) have all supported the DEA and law enforcement softball..
