The Blues, led by Jimmy Gnew, are favored to win World Series IX
Jimmy Gnew Named East Conference Player of the Year
Jimmy Gnew leads the #1 Ranked NYPD Blues into World Series IX.
We typically get year end award nominations from team managers, compare them against each other, talk to some well informed people, look at what kind of year the team is having, compare that against what we know and what we think we know, and ultimately we name our year end award winners. This year the process was a little different. Yes we received numerous nominations but one name kept coming up over and over and it came from numerous teams.
It was obvious that Jimmy's play had impressed a bunch of opponents and among a team of leaders and great players, Jimmy is having the type of season that stands out among them.

Jimmy has played in four tournaments with the Blues this year and they have not finished lower than second place in those events. During these tournaments, Jimmy has been among the team leaders in average, home runs and RBIs.

In the field you will find Jimmy playing 2B or roaming the 5 man spot. Jimmy is an excellent infielder with great hands and range and a very good arm.

When asked about Jimmy, NYPD Coach and Hall of Fame member Rick Tirelli, said, "Jimmy came to the Blues in 2010 and made an immediate impact by helping us win World Series VI. Since that time he has simply made every player on the field with him better."

The Blues come into the World Series as the #1 ranked team in the nation and the team PS.com predicts will take home the stone. If it does, we will not be surprised if Jimmy takes home the World Series MVP as well. Being named Player of the Year and being named World Series MVP in the same year is only something that has happened twice in the history of PoliceSoftball.com. Don't be surprised if this year is #3.
