Battle Born Champions!
Double Dip Champions BATTLE BORN
The West Palm Beach Bacon Ball tournament turned out to be a huge turnout. The reason why was to remember our good friend John Scollo, and to retire his number. We had 19 powerhouse teams from around the country come pay tribute to John. The ceremony was great, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office honor guard presented the colors and Johns jersey was presented to Johns son Kyle. Scollos #3 will never be worn again for the South Florida Lawmen.
The weather was perfect, which was a nice break for our brothers from the north. After the round robin games the double elimination tournament began. The hottest team of the day was Missouri, Joe Monahan put together a great team. Some of the biggest
guys on the circuit play for Missouri and they were hitting bombs. Defensive MVP
Justin Beal was outstanding all weekend, making incredible play after play.. But
the real story was Battle Born, they went on a run I haven't seen in years.
They faced the South Florida Lawmen who won three straight games before Battle
Born run ruled them. Then they run ruled Ohio and NYPD Blues back to back, they
were killing the ball. Missouri who was undefeated was waiting to play and I
think the waiting hurt them a little because they were on fire. Battle born and
Missouri faced off in the title game and Battle Born had to double dip them, and
that's just what they did. Tournament MVP Ray Steiber was on fire, Tolli was
tolli and he's the backbone of that team. He got lit up a few times and just
yelled "now get me some runs" hes tough as nails and a true gentleman. Ron and
the boys played great and they are a team to recon with. Congratulations to
Battle Born, the John Scollo Bacon Ball Champs for 2016.
