North Florida Showdown = New National Powerhouse
John Scollo West Palm Beach Bacon Ball Recap
There is a new sheriff in town, North Florida Lawmen
The weather was perfect and the atmosphere was great. the fields were in the best shape in years, and competition was fierce. In the end the final two teams, North Florida and the Shamrocks were left standing. North Florida was undefeated and Shamrocks had to double dip them to win the title. In the first game, Shamrocks pulled out a tough victory, they played great all day, and North Florida didn't want to have to play them twice.
But the Shamrocks forced a winner take all final game. And what a game it was. Back and forth, several lead changes. In the top of the 7th Shamrocks went up by one, but North Florida had the hammer. With the winning run on, Dwayne Davis hit a walk off double to win the game! it was such an exciting game to watch. Give the Shamrocks credit, they drove down after their flights got cancelled and still played awesome. Congrats to the 2017 John Scollo Bacon Ball Champs, North Florida. With the addition of Hall of Famer Donnie Meyer, these young bucks now have that veteran leadership that can make them elite. Bret Parnell pitched great all weekend. JC Pullem was tournament MVP. All tournament Spencer Craven, Marcel Wilson, and Dwayne Davis. Congrats to North Florida on a great tournament win. Mike Kletzky
