New Jersey Shamrock Enforcers Continue to Roll
by: Fred Jimenez     Jul 29, 2008
On Sunday, July 27, 2008, the NY Law Enforcers Softball Tournament concluded prematurely under dark skies and heavy rain but first they were able to determine a champion, runner-up, and third place finish in each division. On Saturday, the three bracket winners were Shamrock Enforcers, Suffolk County Lawmen, and Nassau PBA, with Tri-State Law, Central NY Lawmen, and Dirty Jersey Boyz finishing second in each respective bracket. On Sunday, the day began in pleasant conditions as Suffolk County Lawmen defeated Dirty Jersey Boyz and Central NY Lawmen defeated Tri-State Law, overcoming a seven run, sixth inning deficit in doing so. Shamrock Enforcers advanced by defeating a game, Orange County Chopper team, by a run.

The next round of play in the double-elimination saw Nassau PBA defeat its Long
Island rival, Suffolk County Lawmen, and Shamrock Enforcers defeat Central NY
Lawmen.
Also, Tri-State Law finally defeated Dirty Jersey Boyz, eliminating them from
the tournament.

The two undefeated teams in the tournament thus far, Shamrock Enforcers and
Nassau PBA, matched up in a low scoring, closely contested game, with Shamrock
Enforcers prevailing.
Also, the Orange County choppers shook off its previous loss by defeating
Suffolk County Lawmen, a team they had lost to in bracket play, eliminating them
from the tournament. Central NY Lawmen eliminated Tri-State Law from the
tournament, this time overcoming another late, six run deficit.

This left Central NY Lawmen to face Orange County Choppers in one of the best
games of the tournament, with Orange County Choppers eliminating Central NY
Lawmen by scoring a run in the bottom of the seventh to win by a run.

Shortly thereafter, the skies opened up with thunder, lighting, and at times,
heavy rain.
Nassau PBA and Orange County Choppers were attempting to complete a "one-pitch"
game to see who would advance to play Shamrock Enforcers in the finals.
Unfortunately, this would not be the case, as the fields became unplayable. We
were, however, able to determine the following results based on wins/losses over
the weekend and head to head competition:

"TOP GUN DIVISION"

Champion - Shamrock Enforcers (undefeated)
Runner-Up - Nassau PBA (one loss)
Third - Orange County Choppers (were on a roll)
Fourth - Central NY Lawmen

"COMPETITIVE DIVISION"

Champion - NYPD Enforcers (undefeated)
Runner-Up - Stewart Air Wing (by defeating CT Law earlier)
Third - CT Law (were on a roll of their own)
Fourth - Highland Falls Market/PD

We would like to thank all the teams who participated in this years tournament
and hope to see everyone back next year!
