Nominations for the 2008 Hall of Fame are now open!!!
by: PoliceSoftball.com     Feb 18, 2008
In 2006, PoliceSoftball.com gave some long overdue recognition to our sport by creating the first ever Police Softball Hall of Fame. 34 individuals were inducted in our inaugural year and they were all very deserving of this honor. In 2007 PoliceSoftball.com inducted 21 individuals into our Hall of Fame ranks to bring our HOF total to 55 members. We are now asking for nominations for the 2008 PoliceSoftball.com Hall of Fame class. To nominate someone, please go to the Hall of Fame section from our home page and there you will find the nomination form. This form will require you to write out a summary of the nominee’s qualifications.
The nomination period will close on MAY 1ST, 2008 so do not delay if you know a deserving person to nominate.

To be eligible, the nominee must meet the following criteria:

1) The nominee must be 45 years of age or older.

2) The nominee must have made a significant and positive impact on the sport of Police Softball.

Once all nominations are received, the nominations will go before our Hall of Fame committee. PoliceSoftball.com readers will be asked for input to the committee and the selection process will begin.

Inductees will be invited to induction ceremonies at the Wouters-Sawyers/Sterling Heights Memorial tournament and the PoliceSoftball.com World Series (We would like to see the inductee at both of these events if possible.

The Hall of Fame area on the website has just been updated. We have added nice graphics and it should be easier to navigate for everyone. If you haven’t visited this area of the website lately, please do so. There you will see photos of our Hall of Fame members and the year they were inducted. If you click on the photo you will see their virtual Hall of Fame plaque. Andy Wurm has also secured a location for the PoliceSoftball.com Hall of Fame and he is in the process of making this area accessible by the time the Wouters/Sawyers Memorial tournament comes around. If you have any pieces to donate to this museum, please contact Andy Wurm at wayneoakland1@aol.com.

In unrelated news, we at PoliceSoftball.com decided to make a message board for teams who may want to use one. The general MESSAGE BOARD is where you will find all the action, but we wanted to offer a more intimate feature for individual teams. Several teams have their own individual websites where they use their message boards to plan practices, set travel arrangements, call team meetings, or discuss topics unique to their team. It takes a lot of work to maintain a website, so we decided to offer that same avenue of communication minus the time/money that goes along with it.

We are in the process of creating Message Threads for individual teams here on the TEAM BOARD. The only threads on this area should be under official team name threads. If you dont see your team here, E-mail us at policesoftball@policesoftball.com and we will start one for you. Feel free to use your thread as you see fit but make sure all posts fall under the PoliceSoftball.com message board rules. We hope you enjoy your personal team message board and encourage all of your team members to come in and use it. We used the basic names of many teams to start the thread but we would like to use team's official names. If your official team name is different than we used, please let us know and we will change it.
