NYPD BLUES
|
Latest Tournament Report:
Tied for 5th in Dayton.
In 2008:
2007 was clearly a rebuilding year for the Blues. They lost several talented starters to the Shields and filled those spots with young talented players who will become the future of the team. Management had hoped these younger players would mature quickly and be able to compete at the same level as previous years but that did not pan out. Although it was time for a youth movement, there were still growing pains. The high point of the season was their World Series performance where they knocked off Minnesota and a handful of other top teams to post their best WS finish to date. This was a clear sign that the team had the talent and now the maturity to compete at the level they EXPECT to compete at. Solidifying this team are many great players but the cornerstone is 2007 East Coast Player of the Year James Ruocchio. This is the player all other teams notice and 2008 will be no different. Coach Rick Terelli is one of the best leaders in the game and like Steve Merchant on the West Coast, he lives for his team. You will not find a better friend and provider to his team than Rick. 2008 OUTLOOK: The Blues have strong and dedicated leaders to compliment their young/athletic players. That alone is a recipe for success. Look for team leaders to hold their players to a high standard. Dedication and commitment will be MANDATORY. If everyone is on the same page, look out. They will be a machine. If not, look for changes once again. This is a no-nonsense organization and you are expected to get on the train or get run over by it!
In 2006:
Very good all year. 2nd in Dayton was a great showing. Big opportunity at the World Series, but missing starters may have hurt them. A win at the WS would have given this team the #1 spot in the East. Will be back bigger, faster and stronger in ’07. Only real “Police Only” threat to Jax. Shouldn’t drop too much in rankings from 2 spot since they laid it on the line at the WS short handed when Jax didn’t, but Ohio and Metro both had great WS performances.
