Another year, another great time in Reno/Sparks. The weather was outstanding, averaging between 75 and 80 degrees. Players, friends and family members were on hand to support their team and the Officer John Hege Memorial Fund.
Reno Sparks Tournament Recap
Connection and DEA Combo
The Connection claims yet another Majors Division championship while J-Cats strike Gold.
During the past 9 Desert Shootout tournaments, we have always appreciated the support and loyalty to our event. Teams like DEA Combo, The Connection, Oakland PD, Stanislaus Combo, Degenerates, Reno PD, SF Seals, J-Cats and others almost always make the trip. We are truly thankful. This year’s Round Robin showcased DEA Combo smashing their way to the number one seed in the Uppers. Reloaded looked strong as well, but the question was whether or not any team could challenge the champion Connection. The Lower Division Round Robin featured Oakland PD taking the top spot after the return of their super-utility power hitter, Abel Alcantar. Round Robin Seeding. In the end, a familiar face took the Onyx bat. Congrats Steph Bautista of The Connection! As the Uppers bracket progressed, The Connection team took form and began rolling. They bullied their way into the championship game as they have done in years past. DEA Combo showed why they have been one of the best teams in cop ball for decades by overcoming a loss and getting back into the ship. The day ended with The Connection just being too much and continuing their Desert Shootout championship run. Congrats! The Lowers bracket saw the Aftermath team show up big time. A good mix of veteran and young players looked great in the desert sun. Unfortunately for the bracket, the J-Cats found their groove. They went undefeated through the bracket by run-ruling every team for the tourney win! Thanks again for your support and loyalty!
