WC Aftershock "shocks" SoCal Warpigs with Gold Division Double Dip
Sin City Combo Claims Blondies Sin City Madness Title
Sin City Slugger Chris Leveque
The prediction was for rain all weekend, there was even a Voodoo raindance performed. The softball gods would have none of this for the Blondies Sin City Madness Police softball Tournament at Las Vegas Big League Dreams. SoCal Alliance coach Ryan Coe said it best during an interview with ESPN Analyst Erin Andrews. Andrews asked Coe, "as the Westcoast #1 team, do you think the weather will become a factor"? Coe's reply said it all about the men who play Police Softball, "I really enjoyed that internet video of you". With that 15 Open Division teams started round robin play.
Old school Dirty Berdoo, a team that can only be described as "Legends" returned to Vegas for one more weekend of softball or atleast one more day of softball. Dirty Berdoo tested both Concord Combo and Sin City Combo in the opening rounds. Vegas Heat went back to old school Kelly Green uniforms to open round robin play. When Andrews asked Vegas Heat coach Eril Llyod about the Kelly Green look, Llyod replied " Kelly was our teams first love and has always had a special place in our heart". On the field there was nothing old school about the Heat. Regrouped with a load of young guns with high level civilian ball expierence, the Heat beat powerhouse Lockdown to open round robin play.

The Border Patrol showed up in force, BP Arsenal new to 2012 Police Circuit but with a roster of veteran expierence, BP Arsenal is for real. BP Arsenal played their way into the Majors Division by beating WC Aftershock..
When the the dust settled in round robin play, SoCal Alliance, Sin City, DEA and Hardcore were all undefeated and along with Lockdown were Major Division number one seeds. BP Arsenal, Vegas Heat, LAPD Blue, Red Republic and Concord Combo all advanced to Major Division double elimination. Nitro, Pound Da Gap, Dirty Berdoo, SoCal Warpigs and WC Aftershock advanced to Gold Division.

In double elimination BP Arsenal upset DEA Combo, Sin City, Alliance, Lockdown all ended day one undefeated. In Gold Division Warpigs and Nitro ended the day undefeated. In day two the rain was coming and by the end of the day Sin City and Alliance would play three hard fought games. Sin City beat Lockdown and Alliance to advance to the championship game. DEA beat a tough Hardcore team and then lost to Alliance by a run in the 7th. Warpigs beat Nitro to remain undefeated and advance to the championship game.WC Aftershock battled their way back from the losers bracket to beat Nitro and set up a showdown with Warpigs. In the Championship games, Alliance beat Sin City and Aftershock beat Warpigs setting up "IF" games for both divisions. Halfway through the games the rain arrived and the fields at LV BLD were able to handle the rain and Sin City claimed a big victory against Alliance winning the Majors Division and Aftershock beat Warpigs to claim the Gold Division.

In the Masters Division, 5 teams played on day three and the weather was cold but the rain went away. At the end of the day 2011 WS Champs SoCal 40's and Cal Quake showed they could play in any division. Both teams breezed through double elimination setting up a undefeated game showdown. Quake hit their way to victory and advanced to the championship game. Sin City Relics and Cal Heat played for 4th and 5th place with Cal Heat beating Sin City twice during the day. Team Torture played a hard fought game against SoCal but in the end it would be SoCal and Quake in the championship. In the championship SoCal took game one to force an "IF" game or what everyone thought would be an "IF" game but both coaches decided on a co-championship and not risk injury so early in the season. This did not settle well with Hall Of Famer and DEA Combo star "Benji" who plays 5man for the SoCal Masters team. When Andrews asked Benji about the co-champ decision, Benji replied " Thats political BS and I got to get back to Arizona, I have league later tonight".

The Blondies Sin City Madness Tournament was rewarded by The "Rooster" himself Dennis Leonard as a 3N2 MVP prize package promotion tournament. Sin City's 1st year player Tyson Thayer was named tournament MVP. Tyson has played for a few years co-ed league softball with Sin City coach Noel Roberts. Tyson played in one tournament last season with Sin City at the LAPD Blue Tournament and when the weekend ended he was signed to a 2012 contract. Tyson hit close to .700 and had 8 homeruns over the past weekend including huge games against Alliance.
