State Razed Policesoftball Club captured the Tahoe Classic on July 20,2008. The 29 team field included 6 teams currently in the Top ten. Including #1 Quake, #4 SAC PD, #5 Concord, #9 DEA COMBO, #10 SAC Razorbacks. In 2nd place was last years champ Jeff Regino of the Quake and in 3rd was Mike Mayer of Concord OSS. Saturday pool play had 17 teams go to A flight and 12 teams go to B Flight. Great games in pool play included a last inning wins by SAC PD over Concord OSS and State Razed over the Quake. Sin City Combo ended 3-0 on Saturday with a win over the Sac Razorbacks 14-11. Other undefeated teams on included Stanislaus/Magnum, Outlaws from So-Cal and the Folsom J-Cats who looked explosive with some new added power in the line-up.
Lake Tahoe, NV.-----
On Sunday, A flight playoffs included a playin game between Redding/Shasta vs up and coming Vegas Heat. Vegas Heat outslugged them 23-18. The marquee game in the morning playoff was #7 seed Quake vs #10 seed Concord. Quake advanced to play Stanislaus who downed OCSD Hitmen. Quake advanced to the Semi-finals against SAC PD who downed Choir Boys 22-20 and Sac Probation who by the way knocked off the #3 seed Sin City Combo in a stunner. Quake went on to beat SAC PD in the Semis advancing them to another Championship Game. On the other side of the Brackets it had State Razed knocking off Vegas Heat in a very close game 12-5. They then played Sac Razorbacks who beat DEA Combo in extra innings to advance. Sac Razorbacks playing without their starting pitcher looked extremely strong the whole game. Their defense, starting with the Q in leftcenter field was outstanding. They displayed great power and timely hitting but fell short 24-23 in probably the best game on Sunday at Zephyr. State Razed advanced to the semi-finals against a new and improved Folsom J-Cats who on their way to this game beat Santa Cruz and the Outlaws of So-Cal. State Razed simply hit the snot out of the ball and just could not be stopped. This made a rematch between State Razed and the Quake in the championship game with State Razed prevailing and holding on 23-16 despite a late 13 run inning by the Quake in the 6th inning.
Big thanks to all the teams who came out and supported this tourney and to Steve Casper of the Cartel for handling such a tough task and making this tourney a continued success.
