Today Texas, Combat Syndicate and Chicago Metro are Profiled
Today PoliceSoftball.com will continue its feature series which will show a "Season Preview" on some of the off-season moves made by teams. We cannot guarantee the accuracy of the moves listed but we are confident we will get it right many more times than we get it wrong. Not every team will be featured. Only teams that contacted us with their updates or teams that received a lot of press on their personnel moves on the message board will be previewed. If you would like your team previewed, please send us an e mail prior to the end of the series. On each preview we have listed the teams final 2009 ranking and we have assigned each team an unofficial theme song which we feel reflects that team in some way. We hope you enjoy the work on this and we will be seeing you all soon at the fields.
TEAM COMBAT/SYNDICATE
2009 Rank: 21T
In big off-season news, the team formerly known as the Cen-Cal Syndicate inked Combat as a sponsor. The people of Combat were very supportive of the Syndicate but along with a big ticket sponsor comes big ticket expectations. Syndicate picked up five additional players that should have a great impact on their level of play. These five players are expected to bring speed, power, consistency, and enthusiasm. In 2009 they were, at best, unpredictable. They would beat teams like Sac PD and the DEA Combo but then lose to small market teams. The new guys will bring experience and talent due to extensive civilian ball histories. Two had never even heard of the police softball circuit. If they get their chemistry together, look out. *editor note: we are anxious to see the Syndicate vs. Santa Cruz match up as both teams have improved but only one can sit on top of the Central Coast totem pole. New players for Combat/Syndicate are:

1. Mike Wade is new to Police Softball, but has played years of civi ball. Mike has speed in the outfield and will punish a pitcher for throwing a strike. Mike can hit for average and has a ton of power.
2. Carlos Vina come to us from Stockton PD. Carlos is one of the fastest outfielders in the game. He is one base most all the time and his speed will make him a threat to score from what ever base he is on
3. Mario Barosso- Mario comes to us from CDCR. This kid is a diamond in the rough. He is young, fast and has power. Mario has played alot of baseball and is still learning softball.
4. Troy Miller: Troy brings alot of experiance with him. he has played years of civi ball and played with CV Kings and State Razed. Troy hits for average and covers a bunch of ground in the outfield.
5. Bill Solma comes to us from Aftershock. Bill has also played with Quake. Bill playes infield or outfield and hits with power. This is the Brett Farve of the team- Brings the big game experiance to the team.

Team Combat is ready for 2010 and willing to take on who ever steps on the field 2010 theme song: “Reborn” by Drowning Pool

CHICAGO METRO
2009 Rank: 24T
No, they will not be combining with the Illinois Lawmen. Since that rumor surfaces every year we decided to address it in the opening statement. Chicago Metro believes they have enough in-house talent to makes some strong runs at 2 of their targeted tournaments, Sterling Heights and the World Series Gold Division. They have a couple starters returning from injuries and they have added some in-state talent. Metro tends to set trends rather than follow them. They used to be a multi-state team and now with more and more teams going to adjoining states, Metro has done the opposite and pulled their roster even tighter. The team is working hard on and off the field to make 2010 a banner year. If you make the mistake of looking past them, look out because they will get ya. Even if they don’t have dozens of championship banners hanging off their rafters, Chicago Metro is truly one of the most respected teams in the circuit. They exemplify the spirit of law enforcement softball. And if things go as planned, look for an improved team in 2010. 2010 Theme song: “My Kind of Town” by Frank Sinatra

TEAM TEXAS
2009 Rank: 25
Team Texas will come out strong as ever. All players that played in 2009 4th place team will be back along with some young talented players that were not able to attend the World Series. This will be the strongest and deepest Texas has been in years. Tourney's will be West Palm Beach, Virginia Beach, Texas police games, Dayton Ohio, and the World Series. Texas is coached and part sponsored by Kevin Schoch. The main sponsor for the last 2 years has signed on again Garrett Metal Detectors. 2010 Theme song: “Looks Like We Made It” by Barry Manilow.
