The Chicago Metro SS has been a big part of the 2013 World Champs
Travis Getting it done in 2014
Going in to the World Series in 2012, Chicago Metro knew they were missingone piece to the puzzle if they were going to win a championship and that piece was alock-down shortstop. So, during a league game on a Thursday night, TravisMorgan drove 60 miles to essentially get a try out and in his first at bat, a pinch hit, he hit a ball that went 375 feet.
Travis immediately impressed with his hitting and Chicago Metro would soon find out he could field just as well. Travis is a little unorthodox in his style and may not always look pretty as he frequently ends up rolling around in the dirt to get the job done. But the results are pretty and they usually end with balls getting scooped up before they can escape the infield.
Travis, who usually can be seen wearing pink, has been the Gold Glove winner in Sterling Heights, was team MVP in VA Beach, and an All-World selection in Las Vegas last year. In addition to these awards and his World Series ring, his teammates voted him as the team's Defensive Player of the Year in 2013. When not making highlight reel plays, Travis has held his own at the plate, hitting .600 since joining Chicago Metro less than two full years ago.
Congratulations Travis and good luck to you and your Chicago Metro teammates at World Series X.
