Battle Born and Warriors Come Out on Top in Reno
The 4th Annual West Coast United Reno/Sparks tournament was held this year on May 12th and 13th. The Golden Eagle Complex was perfect as usual and the weather cooperated. Once again money was raised the help Nik Jackson (Mark Jackson’s son) with his ongoing battle with Hodgkin Lymphoma. Thanks to Brett Helmer, Big Tone and Tyson Becker for assisting with our prize packages.
DEA Combo, Battle Born, WC United, Cen Cal Connection and LAPD Blue all entered into the A Flight. Stanislaus continued their impressive season by taking the last A Flight spot and flexing their muscle early.
A home run derby was held and several experienced bombers participated. This year’s crown belonged to WC United’s very talented Jorge Vina, who put on a display with his nearly flawless swing.
The 2017 player party was held at O’skis Pub across the street from the Nugget. They provided us food specials, hospitality and plenty of beverages. The Law Enforcement Edition Pit Barrel Cooker, donated by Big Tone, was won by Steve Lincoln of CDCR. Thanks to all that bought and sold tickets. This evening was truly a great time and thanks to all who supported it.
As the B Flight bracket dwindled on Saturday morning, it was clear that NorCal Elite and the Warriors were on a collision course. Both teams played very well and battled for the top B Flight spot. In the end, the Warriors completed their undefeated run through the bracket. They turned a lot of heads with their loose and spirited play. Great job!
The A Flight was a showcase of the best in the West. LAPD Blue showed that they are the real deal and pushed their way to the championship game in the winner bracket. Cen Cal Connection showed their talents by matching up to Battle Born throughout the bracket play. Battle Born finally got past Connection and into the championship. Unfortunately for LAPD Blue, Battle Born settled in to their ways and began rollin. They forced the “If” game and defeated a talented LAPD Blue team to win it all. It was a fun battle to watch. Congrats to Peeler and the Battle Born guys.
WC United would like to once again thank everyone for supporting our event. We are always listening for ways to make the weekend better. We want to thank the Nugget Resort, O’skis Pub, Doug Foremaster, Brett Helmer and Red’s Golden Eagle Grill.
