2024 DEA KICKOFF

The lower division saw 172 Combo vs West Coast Lawmen in the undefeated game. S.C. Saints played Norcal Reloaded and the winner was waiting to play the loser of 172/WCL. 172 Combo beat West Coast Lawmen. Norcal Reloaded, who lost in the second round to 172 Combo, came from the loser bracket to defeat S.C Saits and then West Coast Lawmen.

Norcal Reloaded defeated 172 Combo forcing the “IF” game. Despite playing 9 games, Norcal Reloaded still had enough gas in the tank to beat 172 Combo a second time and become the Lower Division Champions. What is even more impressive is Norcal Reloaded are the DEA KICKOFF champions for the second straight year.

Tourney MVP – Alex Denobriga, ALL TOURNEY – Jordan Franks and Chris Maxey.

Homerun derby saw Robert Mason (DEA) win his third P.S. Homerun Derby title.

The upper Division saw what many people believed, at first, to be huge upsets. LA Empire beating the Razorbacks in round one. And then Blue loses to LA Empire in round two. This set up an early elimination for either Blue or Razorbacks. The Razobacks were able to beat Blue on a last inning walk off Homerun.

The Razorbacks then waited for the loser of the undefeated game (LA Empire vs DEA). LA Empire defeated DEA 24-23. DEA knocked out the Razorbacks. DEA beat LA Empire in the first game setting up the “IF” game.

The LA Empire fought back and was able to defeat DEA 20-19. This was the LA Empire’s first tournament together and they made a huge statement. They earned an Elite 8 spot at the World Series and every team needs play their best game to have a chance to beat the Empire.

Tourney MVP – Kyle Heinem, Empire ALL TOURNEY – Taylor Chapman, Isaac Galloway, and Gio Lizarras. DEA ALL TOURNEY – Brian Slover, Kevin Mort, and Leith Chacon.

Special thank you to Bret Helmer, who once again provided the bats for the tournament.
