Steve began his police softball career in 1974 and in 1980 he joined the Dayton Metro Police Softball team. Steve was the Director of the Dayton National Police Softball Championship Tournament from 1985 to 2000. Steve was also the driving force behind establishing the Law Enforcement Softball Association (LESA) in 1990
